The truth about Nail and Bolt tooth drags.
Each year nail and bolt tooth drags are sold to people who wish to break up hard granular surfaces, such as baseball or softball infields and warning tracks. To be clear, Heying Co. does not claim they don't work at all, but there are many inherent problems with them. Choose any nail or bolt tooth drag on the market and our AS58 machine will outperform it for the following reasons, plus with the AS58 you get more attachments for everyday maintenance :

1) The teeth bend too easily. There are differing degrees of hardness that a granular surface can experience, depending on a number of factors, such as:
-what material(s) make up the infield (some materials are harder than others).
-mother nature (rain can pack a surface and the sun can/wind can bake it hard).
-has the surface been played on when wet or moist (many infields need to be played on even when conditions aren't
ideal, which can add to the problem).
When an infield gets really hard, a nail drag needs weight added to it to make it dig. But, when weight is added to most nail drags the teeth will bend from the weight!
Solution: Adding weight to the All-Star will not bend the heavy duty steel teeth. Plus with it's adjustable depth you won't
need to chisel any deeper than necessary to achieve the intended result of breaking up the top area of the surface.
Digging too deep with any implement will result in a surface that is hard to play on.

2) No adjustment for depth. Most nail or bolt tooth drags have NO depth adjustment. Why is this a problem? Because most of the time when a hard surface needs to be broken up, it will have some areas that are really hard and other areas that aren't as hard, or may even be soft. When using a nail or bolt drag on this kind of inconsistent surface it will most likely dig too deep in the soft areas and not deep enough in the hard areas.......... Result...... a surface that is still inconsistent.
Solution: The All-Star allows for fine depth adjustment from 0 to 3 inches. The All-Star has two ways to adjust depth:
   1) the lift arm adjusts depth quickly by using different notches and a locking pin.
   2) Fine adjustments are made by using the turnbuckle. Even when weight is added, the All-Star will keep the chisel at a
consistent depth, which means a more consistent playing surface.

 3) Have to carried by hand. Nail and bolt tooth drags can be quite heavy. Anyone that has carried them on and off of an infield knows they are heavy, bulky and hard to handle.
Solution: Wheeled frame means no carrying by hand. The All-Star's two wheeled frame carries the chisel and any of the
options you might choose. You'll won't have to carry it by hand.

4) Infield surfaces are very abrasive. Since infield surfaces are so abrasive, any material will eventually wear out when being used to break it up. Replacing the teeth should not be a major chore.
Solution: The steel teeth on the All-Star are the most 'abrasion resistant' steel we can find. That doesn't mean, however,
that they won't eventually wear out. So, we've designed our 36 cutting teeth to be held in place by just 9 bolts. A set of
new teeth can be installed in approx. 5 minutes.

Heying Co.'s PR72 Pro Groomer has the same chisel implement as the All-Star chisel, plus it is a complete multi-purpose infield maintenance machine. Our goal for the All-Star Chisel-Drag was a machine that would outperform nail and bolt tooth drags.
We have also added attachments for the All-Star that perform other tasks needed for upkeeping infields. Consider all the benefits the AS58 offers, and, how it outperforms nail and bolt tooth drags, and a quote by Yogi Berra comes to mind....................................
"it ain't braggin if you're doin it"!
